Persona research - Unit 12, Unit 29

I was researching for the settings for my pictures, and i found some decent results, and i am fully satisfied with my decision in which settings i want.

For my Waiter identity, i have chosen a contemporary restaurant, i think this type of restaurant would be more effective than a standard out of fashion restaurant because my course is modern and new. So i feel it represents my course to its fullest. To create my image i will cut out my body out of my picture of the waiter and photoshop it into a picture of a restaurant realistically. To do this i will primarily use the 'Quick Mask' tool.
This is an example of an image i would use.

For my Rebelious schoolboy persona, i have chosen a schoolyard setting, but in a secluded place of the school yard, like how a rebellious school child would hide to do mischievous things, for example smoking. I will use a number of tools to achieve my desired final image, such as an action i found on Deviantart.com which makes the image look vintage which adds to the school yard feel.

These images will be the exact backgrounds i use for my piece.

Panda movement video

I retrieved this video from youtube after a brief search of "Panda Movements". I think this video will be extremely useful for me to take notes from and examine the pandas movements thoroughly so i can successfully replicate it when producing my flipbook.

Panda mask

I didn't have the materials, or the time to get my mask finished in college, so i had to take it home to complete it.
This is an image of my mask in the stage before i added fur to it, to complete it.
To get to its current position, i made the frame of my mask out of chicken wire, it was really difficult and time consuming, because i had to bend and twist every single little strand of wire.
After i made the frame, i then covered it in tin foil, so the paper mache could grip and set properly. I then covered it in multiple layers of paper mache, to add strength and texture to my mask.

And here are images of my mask completed after i added fur. I used black and white fur, becuase thats what colours a panda is. i choose fur instead of painting to give it a more authentic look.
i cut the fur into strips and shapes, fur the ears and eyes for easy application, i used a glue to apply the fur and make sure it was durable and sustainable.

Overall, i am very pleased with the result, and wouldn't change anything if i were to do it again.

Source Material For Persona 1 + 2 - Rebellious School Boy and The Waiter; Unit 12, Unit 29

I was thinking about what clothes to wear for my Persona of a "Rebellious School Boy". So i had a thorough look in my wardrobe to see what clothes i already owned which would fit the persona.
I tried on many different combinations of clothes to see which expressed the persona to its fullest potential.
I came to the conclusion of a white shirt, and tie, black pinstriped suit trousers and a black cardigan.
I was thinking about which accessory's would personify my persona best, and i came to the conclusion with a ciggerette, ipod, and a phone. I feel that the accessory's i have chosen justify the "Rebellious" part of my persona excellently.

For my "Waiter" persona, immediately i knew what i was going to wear, without having to purchase any new garments. I have chosen the same pinstripe trousers and shirt and tie as my first person of the "Rebellious school boy", but also paired with a waistcoat, which really brings out the persona of the waiter as a waistcoat is the most stereotypical item of clothing worn by a waiter. The shirt, tie and trousers are becuase waiters dress smart and the garments i have chosen are very smart.
Accessory wise i have only chosen an old fashioned Bow tie, which adds to the smartness of my character. I have also chosen a kettle, to emphasise on my characters job as a waiter.

Digital Art Research ; Unit 12, Unit 29

I found this piece of Digital Art on the website
computerarts.co.uk.
The colours of the image immediately attracted me, as blue is one of my favorite colours, the mixture of blues and tones is beautiful mixture and is extremely attractive for the eyes.
The main font in the middle of the image reads "Things i did, that no one wanted"
The rest of the image is very typographic, with most of the background is filled with logo's and fonts.

I think that the image is extremely expressive and meaningful, by showing the artists emotions, feelings and general interests.

This image is an excellent piece of digital art.
I feel that the artist has used the colours of black and white to sybolise the aggressive discrimination against black people, the colours are infused to suggest that the apartheid is no more, and white people can live together in harmony.
The artwork itself is in the 3rd dimension, which makes it contemporary and unique in contrast to the serious themes of the colours.

The title of this image is Selfillumination.

The Dennotation of the image on a lightbulb, plugging itself into a plug, or maybe it is unplugging itself, which would make more sense. I have no idea how this image was produced and on what program, but i am guessing it was made on some sort of CAD program.
The plug itself is vaguely humanoid, as it has human like limbs and a head, which is the bulb. the colours used are very bland and washed out, i feel that this to give the image a futuristic modern feel as, for example modern furniture is very bland in colour and simplistic.
I think that the hidden meaning of the image is all about energy consumption, and possibly the darkside of energy consumption of us slowly destroying the earth. If the bulb is unplugging itself, it is showing us to turn of our lights to save energy, thus saving the earth.

This title of this image is Flying Machine
The image itself is a what looks like a mechanical fly, posed ready to take flight. The colours used are a mixture of greens and washed out greys.
I don't know what was used to produce this, but im guessing some form of CAD program was used.
I feel that the meaning of this image is that our technology is forever growing, and that soon we will have casual flying machines which will take the place of automobiles.

This image is entitled "Roboshark"

The denotation of the image is a mechanical shark, posed ready for attack in what looks like an imprisonment of some kind.
The shark itself has been produced on a CAD program, it looks like the creation has been inspired by transformers because of the humanoid robotic look. The colours used are all a shade of metallic grey to amplify the robotic theme of the image.
