I found the site " http://365masks.blogspot.com/ " extremely helpful, it's provided me with lots of methods and techniques to make makes of all different shapes and sizes.
Googleing the phrase "Mask Making" bought up lots of useful and in depth resources.
This is one i found most useful - http://www.allspecies.org/edu/maskmaking.htm
Upon researching on said websites, i knew next to nothing about mask making, and found the research very rewarding.
I learned to techniques of producing masks with different types of materials, such as wire, paper mache and mod rock. I also learnt different styles of mask making, such as cartoony styles, replicas and shamanic.
The first technique i found was actually molding your own or someone else's face using paper mache. I feel i could use this technique and further the initial mould by adding features
Another technique i found, is a template mask, which is mainly associated with young children due to the simplicity of just cutting out the template and adding string so it attaches to the head.
The 3rd technique i found was was making a Easter Bunny mask, out of sponges, i also feel this is for younger kids due to the ease of creation and the easter bunny fictional character theme.
I learnt quite allot from my research, it has gave me plenty ideas on what im going to do for my own mask.
